Asian-Indian Population Data
Our BMI calculator uses ICMR 2009 cutoffs (overweight ≥23, obese ≥25) endorsed by WHO for South Asian populations — an edge no MDCalc competitor offers specifically for the Indian market. South Asians have higher body fat percentage at lower BMI compared to white Europeans, making WHO global cutoffs (25/30) clinically inadequate for this population.
